Experts cite Casten’s Leadership in fighting “Biggest challenge” of our time

Thirty-four distinguished Environmental and Clean Energy leaders announced their endorsements of Sean Casten for Congress in the race to replace Peter Roskam in Illinois’ 6th District.

The group (listed below) combines hundreds of years of expertise; scientists, business and governmental leaders at the forefront of the fight against climate change.

“Sean will bring real-world expertise in energy policy, business success, and climate science to Capitol Hill.  More than ever, we need people like him in Congress,” said Thomas Jensen, who served as Majority Counsel to the Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources and Associate Director for Natural Resources at the White House Counsel on Environmental Quality.

Casten, a scientist and clean energy entrepreneur, who worked for two decades in the clean energy field finding innovative ways to reduce carbon emissions while creating jobs and successful companies. He was cited by the group as uniquely qualified to be a leader in Washington D.C. on the critical issues of climate and environmental policy.

“We need someone who will bring expertise, experience, and an understanding of how vital energy and clean tech are to economic development and quality of life in our communities,” said Nora Mead Brownell, former commissioner at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. “That is something we need in Congress.”

“I am honored that so many people I admire because of their commitment to fighting the effects of climate change and protecting our environment have come together to support me to take that fight to Congress,” said Casten.
