Veterans Policy

Sean believes we have a moral obligation to provide our servicemembers with quality education, health care, and employment when they return to civilian life.

Sean’s father was a U.S. Marine and served our country in Vietnam, and his grandfather served in the European theater during WWII and fought at the Battle of the Bulge. They fought and protected our democracy alongside many of their fellow Americans from all walks of life. Sean grew up around their commitment to service and has first-hand appreciation for the skills and character that are common to our veterans.

In Congress, Sean:

  • Cosponsored the Improving Benefits for Underserved Veterans Act, which would require the VA to publish a report on who is receiving veterans benefits with information to ensure all veterans are receiving their benefits and care.
  • Voted to pass the Blue Water Navy Vietnam Veterans Act into law, which makes Navy veterans who were exposed to Agent Orange, eligible for extended VA benefits.
  • Cosponsored the Accelerating Veterans Recovery Act, which would establish a task force to promote and use outdoor spaces and lands as part of veteran mental health therapy.
  • Cosponsored the Major Richard Star Act to eliminate the dollar-for-dollar offset and ensure combat-disabled retirees with fewer than 20 years of service can concurrently receive retirement pay and disability compensation.
  • Voted to pass the Elizabeth Dole Home Care Act, which expands and improves home and community-based services available to disabled and elderly veterans.
  • Cosponsored the Honoring Our Promise to Address Comprehensive Toxins (PACT) Act, which was signed into law by President Biden and ensures toxin-exposed veterans have access to the treatments they need.
  • Cosponsored the Vet CENTERS for Mental Health Act, which directs the VA to expand access to community-based counseling centers.
  • Voted to pass the Veteran Entrepreneurship Training Act to provide expanded career opportunities to veterans and active duty military members.
  • Cosponsored the Feed Hungry Veterans Act to expand veterans’ access to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and for disabled veterans to access long-term food assistance.

We owe our freedom to our veterans and servicemembers. It is a debt that we cannot truly repay, but we must never stop trying.
